      STEM is relatively recent. We used to have SET (Science, Engineering, Technology) but then we pointed out that maths was the underpinning factor behind all of SET, so it became STEM.
      Personally I prefer to be more inclusive and have

      Humanities, Art, Maths, Science, Technology, English and Religious Studies

      This spells.

      HAMSTERS

      Which is much more fun than STEM
